Town Hall For Snyder Get Standing Ovation From Inside Crowd, Jeers From Protesters

TROY (WWJ) - With a slight lead in the gubernatorial race over Democratic candidate, Mark Schauer, Governor Rick Snyder held his second town hall meeting with residents---this time around in Troy.

"I believe in education and in the last three years we have invested over a billion dollars ..." said Snyder.

While outside the Polish Cultural Center Thursday night where Snyder was holding his town hall meeting about 50 protesters carried signs, some that read "stop cutting schools."

Retired teacher, Jim Pearson of Highland Township was among those opposing the governor.

"My question to the governor is: Why is he balancing his budget on school kids and retirees? That's just wrong," said Pearson.

Kelly Garrett said she wants to see smaller class sizes ... "How can anyone be effective?" she asked of the large class size for teachers.

Meantime, inside at the town hall meeting, Governor Snyder fired back . .

If you turn on TV, you'll see teachers saying how I cut funding for K-12 that's a lie," said Snyder during event. "It's a flat-out lie."

The governor's Road to Recovery tour is touted as a chance for Snyder to hear from residents and also talk about his accomplishments.
