Top Trends In Halloween Costumes For Kids And Adults
From decor to food to TV specials, Halloween is a real thing now. For some, it overshadows Christmas.
It's so popular, the National Retail Federation estimates people will spend $8.4 billion this year on Halloween, a 12 percent spike from last year.
Like Friday follows Thursday and sunset comes after sunrise, you can bank on certain things. One of them: There will be Halloween costume trends.
And you don't want to be out in the cold in last year's costume.
According to the Retail Federation, Spiderman will be the 10th most popular costume, followed by zombies, Marvel superheroes, characters from "Frozen," witches, Star Wars characters, Batman, animals and princesses.

For adults, the Retail Federation says the array of popular costumes will be similar. For adults the 10th most popular costume is: a zombie, followed by Star Wars characters, a pirate, slasher movie villain, video game characters, vampire, Marvel superheroes, animals and witches.

The top costume for adults, and this may be a surprise, involve Batman characters, including Batman, Harley Quinn, and the Joker. For adults over the age of 35, witches are the No. 1 trend.
