Tips Wanted To ID Detroit Family Dollar Store Armed Robber [VIDEO]

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are looking for tips from the public to identify a man who threatened a clerk and robbed a Family Dollar store last weekend.

In the incident caught on security video at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, the suspect is seen approaching the counter as if to make a purchase.

The suspect then hastily walked around the counter and approached the cashier as police say she was preparing to put some money away in the store safe.

The man told the clerk, "Give me the money," according to police, while reaching his hand behind his back as if he had a gun in his pants.

The suspect then forced the clearly intimidated victim over to the cash register and proceeded to remove some more money, before fleeing the store on foot.

Police say they're looking for a black male, around 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 245 lbs. He's bald with light complexion and a goatee. He was wearing a black and white shirt with blue pants, and may be armed with a handgun.

He got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

Anyone who may recognize the man seen in the security video or who has any information about this crime is asked to call detectives at the Detroit Police Department's 8th at 313-596-5851 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.  Tips may also be submitted online at this link, or by texting CSM and the tip to CRIMES (2746370).

Those who feel they are in danger should dial 911.
