Mystery Woman Found Unconscious In Oakland County Identified
INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - With the help of social media and the public, Oakland County Sheriff's officials have identified a woman who was found unconscious in Independence Township over the weekend.
Deputies woman responded to a call about an unknown woman spotted at around 8 p.m. Saturday "staggering along the side of the road" — in the area of Andersonville Rd. and Curtis Lane — before she fell to the ground where she lay unresponsive and vomiting.
The woman — who is now known to be 38-year-old Stephanie Yeider of Waterford Township — was taken by EMS to McLaren Hospital Oakland where she remained unconscious in an Intensive Care Unit as of Monday afternoon. Tests were being performed to determine what's wrong with her, but authorities say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be involved.
The woman had no identification on her, and her fingerprints weren't found in the system. Detectives conducted a neighborhood canvass and broadcast her description to area departments — but it was a Facebook post that solved the case after a photo taken at the hospital was sent out to the media.
A friend of Yeider recognized her from the picture and called police.
Detectives then contacted Yeider's boyfriend, who said she'd been gone since Friday. He said he'd called area hospitals looking for her, but hadn't reported her missing — adding that Yeider "had some personal problems" and had left home before without telling anyone where she was going.
