Tigers Star Cabrera Out Of Starting Lineup With Shaky Ankle

DETROIT (AP) — Miguel Cabrera is out of the starting lineup for the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday against the White Sox because his right ankle has been acting up.

Cabrera had surgery in 2014 to remove bone spurs in that ankle, and manager Brad Ausmus says it still flares up from time to time. The Tigers have Thursday off, so having Cabrera sit out Wednesday would give him a solid stretch of time to rest.

Chicago's Melky Cabrera was taken out of the lineup shortly before the game because of stomach discomfort.
