Tigers Place Justin Upton On Bereavement List, Recall Tyler Collins
DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Tigers have put outfielder Justin Upton on the bereavement list and recalled outfielder Tyler Collins from Triple-A Toledo.
The team announced the moves before Friday night's game against Kansas City.
Manager Brad Ausmus said Upton was dealing with a loss in his family and that he needs to take as much time as he needs. Sunday would be the earliest he can play again for the Tigers.
Collins is in his third stint with the Tigers this season. He hit .214 in 68 games for Toledo.
