Tigers Do Not Tender Al Alburquerque And Neftali Feliz A Contract For 2016 Season

DETROIT – The Detroit Tigers today announced that the club will not tender a contract for the 2016 season to righthanded pitchers Al Alburquerque and Neftali Feliz.

Alburquerque pitched in 67 games for the Tigers in 2015 and compiled a 4-1 record with a 4.21 ERA (62.0IP/29ER) and 58 strikeouts. In five seasons with Detroit, Alburquerque had a 17-6 record with one save, a 3.20 ERA (225.0IP/80ER) and 276 strikeouts.

Feliz signed with the Tigers as a free agent on July 11, 2015, after being released by the Texas Rangers earlier in the season. Feliz made 30 relief appearances for the Tigers and had a 2-2 record with four saves, a 7.62 ERA (28.1IP/24ER) and 23 strikeouts.

Alburquerque and Feliz are now free agents and are eligible to sign with any of the 30 major league clubs.
