Tigers Claim Josh Zeid Off Waivers

DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers today announced the club has claimed the contract of righthanded pitcher Josh Zeid off waivers.

Zeid, 27, posted a 0-0 record, 6.97 ERA (20.2IP/16ER), and 18 strikeouts in 23 appearances for the Houston Astros during the 2014 season. He made 17 appearances with Triple A Oklahoma City, posting a 2-2 record, 2.41 ERA (18.2IP/5ER) and 21 strikeouts in 2014. In parts of two seasons at the major league level with Houston, he has posted a 0-1 record, 5.21 ERA (48.1IP/28ER), and 42 strikeouts in 48 games.

To create space on the 40-man roster, the Tigers have designated the contract of outfielder Ezequiel Carrera for assignment.
