Tigers' Castellanos Thrills Youth Baseball Team With Surprise Visit, Coaching

DETROIT (WWJ) - Talk about a dream come true!

Members of the Detroit Munger Lions youth baseball team are able to watch the some of the 'big boys,' the Detroit Tigers, take batting practice at Comerica Park ahead of Wednesday's inter-league game with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Earlier in the day, Tigers third baseman Nick Castellanos paid the kids a surprise visit at their practice - prompting one young player to exclaim the day was "the best of the best."

Practicing on Buysse Ballpark's field, home to the University of Detroit Softball Titans,  7-year-old Adrian Miguel says, "it makes me happy that he's here because he helps us learn more about baseball."

"I'm having so much fun," said 9-year-old Jordon Footlander, "being face-to-face with an actual Tiger  --- it's just really cool."

The members of the Munger Lions will get to see the Tigers take on the Pittsburgh Pirates Wednesday night and get to go onto the field pre-game for batting practice.

"To see how much they enjoy doing it, it's a lot of fun," said Castellanos.
