Tigers Call Up J.D. Martinez From Triple A Toledo

The Detroit Tigers have made a move to improve their roster. Tigers have called up left fielder J.D. Martinez from Triple A Toledo.

Martinez, 26, has a .308 average with 10 HRs, 14 extra-base hits and a .846 slugging percentage for the Mud Hens.

Tigers send RHP Luke Putkonen on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation, retroactive to April 19.

Martinez played the previous 3 seasons with the Houston Astros, where he hit .251 with 24 HRs and 126 RBI. Martinez was released prior to the 2014 season.
