Tigers Beat Astros 7-3 Behind Zimmermann

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (AP) — Jordan Zimmermann pitched three shutout innings and Ian Kinsler hit one of three home runs by the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday in their 7-3 win over the Houston Astros.

Mike Gerber and Bryan Holaday homered for the Tigers in the first inning off Houston starter Brad Peacock. Kinsler's homer came off Dan Straily in the sixth.

Zimmermann started his third spring game by striking out Jose Altuve, George Springer and Carlos Correa in the first inning, and finished it by picking Correa off second base in the third. He gave up two hits and hit two batters while striking out three.

Jon Singleton drove in three runs for the Astros with a double and his second home run this spring.

Peacock gave up three runs on three hits in three innings.
