CBS DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers bullpen will get a boost Wednesday when the Tigers activate reliever Joakim Soria from the disabled list, where Soria has been since Aug. 10 after suffering a strained oblique.

At the time of his injury, Soria had compiled a 10.38 ERA over six appearances for Detroit. One ugly outing in which Soria gave up four runs in one-third of an inning distorted his ERA dramatically; Soria had allowed just one earned run over his other five appearances as a Tiger.

Detroit's bullpen woes have been well documented. The Tigers lost expected setup man Bruce Rondon before the season began; longtime shutdown closer Joe Nathan has struggled at times; and the group has a collective ERA of 4.22, good for 26th in the major leagues.

However, between the return of Soria, the improvement of Phil Coke, a consistent veteran in Joba Chamberlain, and progress by Nathan, it appears as though the bullpen could end up in relatively decent shape after all.
