Crews are working 16-hour shifts around the clock to restore service and more than 400 linemen from Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin are assisting the restoration effort.

The vast majority of DTE Energy customers are expected to have their electric service restored by late Wednesday night.

Sunday's storms brought strong winds with gusts up to 70 mph, toppling trees and causing more than 1,000 power lines to come down across metro Detroit.
