Thief Gets Away With $5K In Lottery Tickets In West Bloomfield [PHOTO]

WEST BLOOMFIELD (WWJ) - West Bloomfield police are asking for the public's help in finding a person who stole thousands of dollars in lottery tickets from a gas station.

Authorities say the suspect made off with display of Michigan Lottery Instant Tickets from the BP on Farmington Road just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, July 15.

"He walked around the store for a short time, there was another customer in there," said Deputy Police Chief Curt Lawson. "He wanted for that customer to get engaged with the clerk at the register, and the suspect reached over the counter."

The suspect is wanted on a charge of retail fraud for the theft of the tickets, which are valued at around $5,000.
