Review: Snyder's of Hanover S'mores Pretzel Pieces
Appearance: These pretzels aren't just dusted with flavoring, they're covered. Some pieces had so much flavoring, you couldn't even see the pretzel. The pieces vary in sizes but even the bigger ones are small enough to eat in one bite.
Aroma: I didn't get much of a pretzel smell, but it definitely smells like chocolate. I'm not sure if I smelled any s'mores-ness in the bag, but the aroma kind of reminded me of cereal.
Taste: Instantly, I recognized a familiar flavor -- and it wasn't s'mores. This might sound crazy, but these pretzels taste just like Coco Puffs (without the milk). Once you get past the chocolatey taste, the salty flavor starts comes through. The pretzels are delightfully crunchy and mirror the crispness of a graham cracker. But the flavor missing from these pretzels is marshmallow -- the most essential part of a s'more. It might have been mixed in with the chocolate and I was so distracted by the "Coco Puffs taste" that I couldn't distinguish a separate marshmallow flavor. Either way, I couldn't stop eating them.
Pros: Literally the perfect combination of sweetness and saltiness. The pieces are the perfect size with just the right amount of crunch. Tons of chocolatey goodness without being too sugary.
Cons: Lacking the marshmallow element of a s'more.
Rating: 9 out of 10 -- Maybe if they threw in some mini marshmallows, these pretzels would be perfection.
