Thanksgiving Turkeys Donated To 400 Pontiac Families

PONTIAC (AP) — Some families in Pontiac will receive free holiday turkeys as part of an annual giveaway event by Community Network Services and the Oakland County sheriff's office.

The private, nonprofit human services agency says 400 families have been pre-selected to get turkeys Saturday at Pontiac City Hall.

Mayor Deirdre Waterman and Community Network Services Chief Executive Michael Garrett will attend the giveaway.

Garrett says the event is an expression of the nonprofit's commitment to people living in the areas served by Community Network Services.

More than 1,200 families have received Thanksgiving turkeys over the past three years as part of the program.
