Terry Foster Blogs About Life, His Family And The LaFontaine Family
By Terry Foster
My name is Terry Foster and I am one of the newest members of The Family Deal under the LaFontaine umbrella. Many of you know me as a jack of all trades in the Detroit sports world.
I recently retired at The Detroit News after 27 years and my full-time gig is to co-host the Valenti and Foster Show on 97.1 FM the Ticket. I also get paid to keep Mike out of trouble, although I will admit failure on many days.
People often ask how I do a show with Mike. I joke "medical marijuana."
The problem is most people don't believe I am joking.
I am excited about joining thefamilydeal.com as its main blogger. I plan on having fun and dealing with issues that families can identify with. I will write about real life and of course I will write about sports issues in the community. I want to mix ideas in to keep you off balanced and entertained.
I want to write about my family because we go through the same things you go through. We have our good days and our bad days but we work things out so we can have more good days than bad.
And let me introduce you to my gang. My wife Adrienne has been my co-pilot for 17 years, daughter Celine is 16 years old and a junior at West Bloomfield High and son Brandon, 14, will be a freshman at the high school next fall.
I will hit the Red Wings, Pistons, Lions, Tigers and Michigan and Michigan State because of your passion for sports. I talk with some of my buddies in the media, especially those on the west coast, and they complain that
nobody cares about sports issues like they do in Detroit.
Their loss is my gain.
It is one of the most passionate sports cities in the country and is often named one of the top five sports towns in the United States. It is well deserved.
I've loved Detroit sports since I was a child reading Joe Falls and Jerry Green in The Detroit News. We read The News because I grew up in a blue collar family and the Free Press did not fit our lifestyle at the time. I am fortunate enough to have worked at the Free Press and News. Now I am a blogger, something we never heard of while growing up on the west side of Detroit.
I did have my own newspaper for one summer. It was called The
Vancouver Times, named after the street I lived on. The circulation was a robust five subscribers and I charged a nickel per copy. That paper has folded.
I will write two blogs a week and come up with some surprises to introduce you to members of The Family Deal crew. They all work hard and I want to help put you in touch with the finest mechanics, sales people and managers in Metro Detroit.
I want to make sure we have fun. If you see me at a LaFontaine dealership please say hello.
