Teen's Body Pulled From Lake Michigan After Boating Accident

PARK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - The body of a western Michigan teenager has been found in the waters of Lake Michigan following a boating accident.

Searchers using sonar detected the body of 16-year-old Riley Hoeksema Wednesday in water 27 feet deep.

Ottawa County sheriff's office Capt. Bob Tease says divers then recovered the Holland high school junior's body.

Hoeksema and 16-year-old Levi Winkle were in an inflatable boat Sunday evening that capsized near Holland State Park beach as they made a sharp turn.

A passing boater rescued Winkle, but Hoeksema could not be found.
