Teen Riding Bike Struck By Car, Seriously Injured

BENTON TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities say a 17-year-old boy was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike.

The accident happened around 3:50 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Hartel Road and Kinsel Highway, just south of I-69 in Benton Township.

The teen, a Potterville resident, was riding his bike southbound on Hartel Road when he was struck by a vehicle, which was also traveling southbound, according to the Eaton County Sheriff's Office.

The teen was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The other driver, who was not identified, was uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.

The intersection was closed for several hours as police investigated the scene, but has since reopened.
