Teen Pleads Guilty In Death Of Popular Tow Truck Driver

PORT HURON (AP) - A high school senior has pleaded guilty in the death of a popular tow truck driver who was struck while pulling a car from a ditch in St. Clair County.

The Times Herald of Port Huron reports Trent Sheldon made the plea on Tuesday to a charge of causing death while under the influence of marijuana. Twenty-eight-year-old Jason Schultz died in the Jan. 15 crash.

Police say Sheldon drove on the shoulder of a road and struck Schultz in Clyde Township. The 18-year-old admitted his role in the crash as well as consuming marijuana beforehand.

Sheldon faces up to 15 years in prison. He'll be sentenced later by Circuit Judge Daniel Kelly.
