Teen Electrocuted, Killed By Downed Power Line In Taylor

TAYLOR (WWJ) -- A metro Detroit teen tragically lost his life after Friday's storms when he came into contact with a downed power line in Taylor.

Police say 16-year-old Austin Wohlfeil was electrocuted at around 8 p.m. while trying use a water gun to douse a fire, which he didn't know was on top of a live wire.

The boy's 20-year-old brother tried to pull him away, but was unsuccessful. The brother was also shocked but uninjured.

In a statement, DTE Energy called this a tragic incident, urging residents to be mindful of their surroundings as crews continue to repair and restore power.
