Teacher Gets Up To 15 Years In Prison For Sex With 8th Grader

BAY CITY, Mich. (AP) - A 32-year-old Bay City teacher has been sentenced to 7 and a half to 15 years in prison for having sex with a 14-year-old boy who was one of her students.

Sarah Raymo of Essexville pleaded guilty Sept. 26 in Bay County Circuit Court to two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct. In exchange, prosecutors dropped four counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Judge Kenneth W. Schmidt issued the sentence Monday. He says Raymo betrayed the trust placed in her and deserved a penalty at the high end of the sentencing range.

Fifteen years is the maximum under the law.

The boy testified in January that he had sex with Raymo six to eight times at the school and his home during the 2012-13 school year when he was in eighth grade.
