Taylor Man Charged In Summer Death Of 4-Year-Old Daughter

TAYLOR (WWJ) - A 25-year-old Taylor man has been charged in the May 2015 death of his 4-year-old daughter.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Demar Canada is expected to be arraigned Saturday on charges of felony murder and second-degree murder.

The charges stem from the death of Canada's daughter last May 24. Police were called to the man's home in the 25100 block of Darin Street, near Eureka and Beech Daly roads, after the child was found unresponsive. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The Wayne County Medical Examiner determined that the cause of death was from severe head trauma, allegedly caused by Canada. Prosecutors say further information regarding the facts of the case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.
