Target Closing Stores In Monroe, Southfield

MONROE (WWJ) - Target is closing nearly a dozen stores nationwide, including three in Michigan.

The retailer announced Tuesday it is shutting down stores in Monroe, Southfield and Bay City by Feb. 1, the first day of the company's fiscal year. All three locations are located in shopping malls.

"The decision to close a Target store is only made after careful consideration of the long-term financial performance of a particular location," the Minneapolis-based company said in a statement.

All eligible employees will be offered the option to transfer to another Target store or accept a separation package.

Other Target stores closing their doors are located in Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Minnesota and Texas.
