Target, Briarwood Mall Announce Hiring For The Holidays

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - The holiday season is right around the corner and local and national stores will be hiring for the season.

Target says it will hire more than 70,000 seasonal store workers during the busy holiday shopping season, about the same as it hired last year.

It also plans to hire an additional 7,500 people for its distribution facilities, which ship online orders and send products to stores.

The discount chain says it will hold hiring events at all of its 1,800 stores on Oct. 14 and 15. Candidates can also apply online. [Find more information here].

In Ann Arbor, a free job fair to help retailers fill about 100 jobs will take place at Briarwood Mall on Friday, September 16 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Macy's corridor and at select participating retailers.

Opportunities range from part-time, temporary positions to full-time, permanent positions, and include sales associate and managerial roles, as well as jobs in security, customer service and more.

Interested applicants should come dressed to impress, and with copies of their resume or work history, and should be prepared to discuss potential schedules and start dates.
