Tanker Truck Driver Dies In Southwestern Michigan Crash

NILES, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a tanker truck driver is dead following a crash in southwestern Michigan that prompted an evacuation of the nearby area.

The Cass County sheriff's department says 60-year-old Charles Edwards of Berrien Springs was pronounced dead at the scene of the early Thursday crash in Howard Township.

Authorities say the truck was hauling gasoline and ended up on its side with fuel leaking out. The area was evacuated as a precaution.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
