Swoop's Arm Will Help An EMU Student Win A Year Of Tuition

YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) — Eastern Michigan wants to defeat Western Michigan in football. A student is hoping to leave the stadium with a year of free tuition.

Two EMU students will be taken to the field Thursday night during a timeout to meet school mascots dressed as Swoop the eagle. The mascots will throw footballs into a container 10 yards away.

The tuition prize, worth $10,000, will go to the student whose mascot completes the most passes.

EMU has offered tuition prizes in the past but not as much as $10,000. A similar promotion is planned when the Eagles play Massachusetts on Nov. 14.
