Suspected Gang Member Charged In Fatal Shooting Of 15-Year-Old Outside Detroit Dollar Store

DETROIT (WWJ) - A suspected 18-year-old gang member is facing several charges after a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot in the head outside of a dollar store in Detroit.

Anthony Baldwin is expected to be arraigned Saturday on charges of open murder, gang membership, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm.

Authorities allege that Baldwin gunned down a 15-year-old Marcus Hill at a bus stop outside of the Family Dollar store near Joy and Evergreen roads around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Baldwin allegedly exchanged words with Hill, who had just exited the store after buying a pair of gloves, pulled out a handgun and shot the boy in the head, authorities said.

Police quickly responded to the area and found Baldwin hiding under a car more than a block away from the store. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Hill was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, but later succumbed to his injuries.
