Suspected Drunken Driver Hits Moving Train, Escapes Injury

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP (AP) - Police say a suspected drunken driver escaped injury after crashing into a moving train in suburban Detroit.

Officers found a heavily-damaged SUV early Sunday resting up against a railroad crossing signal pole in Oakland County's Waterford Township.

Police say the SUV's driver, a 21-year-old Commerce Township woman, told officers she was unable to stop due to slippery road conditions.

The woman was arrested for operating under the influence of alcohol. She was taken to the Oakland County Jail, where she was held pending bond.

Roads were slick in the area following a wintry storm that hit Michigan and other states.
