Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested Going Wrong Way On I-96 Just One Hour Into St Patrick's Day

DELTA TWP. (WWJ) - A 55-year-old suspected drunk driver was taken into custody after driving the wrong way down I-96 in Eaton County just one hour into St. Patrick's Day.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Office said they began receiving reports around 1 a.m. Tuesday about a motorist going westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-496 in Delta Township.

Deputies were dispatched to the area and found the driver now going westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-96 near Saginaw Highway. A traffic stop was initiated and the woman was taken into custody "for being impaired." Police said luckily, the woman didn't crash into anything or anyone. No injuries were reported.

The woman was only identified as a 55-year-old Eaton County resident. She's currently being held at the Eaton County Jail, pending charges.
