Suspected Copper Thieves Arrested In Oakland County

CLARKSTON (WWJ) - A man and woman are behind bars for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars worth of copper from buildings near Clarkston in northern Oakland County.

Sheriff deputies caught the Auburn Hills couple after they saw the man run into a building along Maybee Road.

A man, 30, and woman, 29, were arrested at the scene. The car the couple used housed two pit-bull dogs which were taken by animal control.

Police say the man admitted stealing copper.

Deputies found a 600-foot roll of copper wire and other items that had been stolen from the buildings.

Larceny and breaking and entering are among the charges the two may face.
