Suspect Still At Large, Vehicle Photo Released, In Case Of Deputy Killed In Chase Crash

LANSING (WWJ) - Michigan State Police asking for the public's help in locating a driver involved in a crash that killed an Ingham County Sheriff's deputy this week.

Deputy Grant Whitaker, 25, was pursuing the driver on Dexter Trail near M-52 around 2 a.m. Sunday when he lost control of his squad car and crashed into a tree — southeast of Lansing, outside of the village of Stockbridge, in the area of M-52 and Dexter Trail.

The suspect got away.

His or her vehicle — which is seen in a dark, blurry photo released Tuesday by state police — is described as a light-colored SUV.
