Suspect In Murder Case Dead After Barricaded Situation In Flint

FLINT (AP) - Police in Flint say they've found the body believed to be that of a fugitive murder suspect inside a house where he barricaded himself for several hours, wounding an officer trying to capture him.

Police say the standoff began about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Chief James Tolbert says after exchanging fire with the suspect Wednesday evening, officers used equipment to enter the house Wednesday night.

He says they found a dead man believed to be 22-year-old Daron R. Gaylor Jr.

It wasn't known how he died.

Police were seeking Gaylor on first-degree murder and attempted murder charges in one case and for questioning about a shooting in which his cousin died and an 8-year-old boy was wounded.

State police Lt. Brian Cole says the wounded officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.
