Suspect In Fatal Shooting At Melvindale Play Center Surrenders In Alabama

MELVINDALE (WWJ) - The man suspected in a fatal shooting at a children's play center in Melvindale has turned himself in to authorities.

Lamar Carter, 24, reportedly walked into a Quizno's sub shop in Oxford, Alabama and told an employee to call 911 and have the police come pick him up.

Police are searching for Lamar Carter. (Police booking)

Carter is suspected of killing 44-year-old Sean Key during a fight at Play Atlantis in Melvindale two weeks ago. Investigators say the two families had been feuding for months, and both just happened to be in the same place at the same time.

A shooting death in Detroit and an arson are also related to the longtime fight, according to police.

Carter remains in custody in Alabama, pending extradition.
