Suspect In Custody In Connection With Fatal Hit-And-Run In Oxford Township

OXFORD (WWJ) - A 19-year-old man has turned himself into police in connection with a hit-and-run fatal accident in Oxford Township.

According to police the Macomb Township man was driving on Drahner Road Monday night in Oxford Township when he struck 26-year-old Jordyn Brooke Puckett from Orion Township and left the scene.

Friends of the victim say that Puckett left their car after an argument around 9:30 p.m. and started walking on Drahner away from their car. Despite attempts to get her back in the car, friends say she refused and they did not see her again.

Puckett was discovered dead around 4:20 a.m. Tuesday along Drahner Road at Olive Street, by a newspaper delivery driver.

Police says the suspect's truck, a black 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, hit Puckett and showed signs of damage consistent with the crime scene.

His truck was impounded as evidence, and investigators continue to search for witnesses in the incident as it remains under investigation.

If you have any information about this incident you are asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Office tip line at 1-888-TURN-1-IN.
