Suspect Arrested After Leading 100 MPH Police Chase In Stolen Car

DETROIT (WWJ) - A man is facing multiple charges after leading a police chase that reached speeds of 100 miles per hour and ended in a dramatic crash on Detroit's east side.

Police say the situation unfolded around 3 a.m. Friday when police in Westland tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver sped away.

Officers gave chase and soon determined that the vehicle had been stolen.

The chase reached speeds of 100 miles per hour before the suspect crashed on I-94 near Chene in Detroit.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was taken into custody at the scene.

Authorities say they will be pursuing charges against the suspect, including fleeing and eluding and car theft.

The incident remains under investigation.
