Suspect Charged With Assault In Connection With Shining Laser At Cop

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) - A 32-year-old man from Roseville is facing several charges after allegedly shining a laser into a passing police car -- hitting an officer in the eyes.

Jonathan Rayner was arraigned Sunday on charges including assault with a dangerous weapon and resisting arrest.

According to police on Friday around 8 p.m. Rayner aimed a laser into a state trooper's car while traveling on I-94 in Wayne County.

Police retrieved the laser and arrested the suspect a short time after.
