Suspect Charged In Connection With Fifth Third Bank Robbery In Royal Oak

DEARBORN (WWJ) - Authorities confirmed that they have a suspect in custody in connection with bank robbery which took place at the Fifth Third bank in Royal Oak on Saturday afternoon.

Police said a man went into the bank on Woodward between 12 and 13 Mile Rd., demanding money and indicated that he had a gun. The man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Roy Lee Buck Jr. was charged with one count of bank robbery, which carries a maximum penalty of life in prison. Buck is being held pending a detention hearing in United States District Court. His hearing is set for September 3.

Police had described the suspect as a medium-dark skinned black male, between 6-foot-2 and 6-foot-4, 30 to 40 years old, with a goatee and was wearing gardening gloves.

FBI agents say Buck is suspect in a series of bank robberies that occurred since March 2014 in Oakland, Macomb and Wayne Counties.

The investigations into those robberies have been conducted collaboratively between the FBI Oakland County Gang and Violent Crimes Task Force; the FBI Detroit Violent Crimes Task Force; the FBI Macomb County Resident Agency; the Oakland County Sheriff's Office; and the Lathrup Village, Berkley, Oak Park, Center Line, Dearborn, Dearborn Heights, Livonia, Pleasant Ridge and Royal Oak police departments.
