Survey: Allen Park Tops List Of Hardest Working Towns In Metro Detroit

ALLEN PARK (WWJ) - Which town in metro Detroit is the hardest working?

According to a survey conducted by Zeal Credit Union, that honor goes to the Downriver community of Allen Park.

Residents from metro area have been voting for the past three months and with over 50,000 votes cast, Allen Park had more than double the votes of its closest competitor -- Southgate. Rounding out the top five towns are Taylor, Livonia and Dearborn.

"When we started this in June, we never imagined that metro Detroit residents would fight so hard for their towns," Tony Carnarvon, CEO of Zeal Credit Union, said in a statement. "It's obvious that all of metro Detroit works hard, but hats off to Allen Park who really battled for the title."

In celebration of Allen Park's victory, the credit union is throwing "the largest hard working American party" in Allen Park on September 26, where the city will be presented with an official award. The free, family-friendly event will also celebrate hard working Americans throughout metro Detroit with a celebrity softball game, entertainment, food, games and some special surprises.

The celebration takes place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Champaign Park, located at the corner of Pelham and Champaign Road.
