Shootings At Separate Block Party Ends With 5 Shot, 4 Teens Among Injured

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Detroit police say five people have been shot during a block party on the city's east side.
Sgt. George O'Gorman says there were no major injuries in the Sunday night incident, with all five victims in "temporary serious" condition.

Police say they aren't sure what prompted the shooter to open fire on the crowd.

Detroit Police Spokeswoman Cassandra Lewis says there were two 19-year-old victims, a 14-year-old, an 18-year-old and a 29-year-old.

A second shooting Sunday at a block party on Wilshire near Rosebury, left one person injured, the party was attended by over 100 people.

Police say no one is in custody in either incident and that no one at either block party is giving any information about the shootings.

Tim Beard of Detroit lives in the area: "It's crazy, man, it's just, city of Detroit, man, these people need to do something better with their lives, start working and going to school -- you know, crazy."

The incidents follow a shooting last week that left a 19-year-old gunman dead and 11 other people wounded at a block party.
