Suicide Suspected As Detroit Cop Reportedly Under Investigation Found Dead In Sterling Heights

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A Detroit police officer reportedly under investigation has been found dead in Sterling Heights.

As Newsradio 950's Stephanie Davis reports it appears to be a case of suicide.

Thirty-four-year old Detroit Police Detective James Napier was found dead inside a vehicle Thursday morning on Maple Lane near 15 Mile in Sterling Heights.

Sterling Heights police say it appears Napier shot himself in the head. The weapon was recovered.

Napier, a husband and father of two children, was one of two officers under investigation by Internal Affairs and the FBI according to reports.

Sources tell WWJ that Napier was accused of selling drugs.

Police Chief James Craig shut down the narcotics section last year after findings of mishandling of evidence and drugs recovered during raids and arrests.
