Suicidal Man In Critical Condition After Standoff With Police

BEDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) -- A scary standoff in southeastern Michigan ended Saturday evening with an armed man in critical condition.

Monroe County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to a hotel in Bedford Township near Telegraph and Lavoy Road after receiving a call about a suicidal man with a gun was received around 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The man was found in his room with a .22 caliber rifle at his head who threatened to commit suicide.

After several hours of negotiation, the man fired the gun but the shot did not fatally wound him.

The man was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Toledo where he is listed in critical condition.

The man's identity has not been released.
