Succession Plan Set For Ilitch-Owned Teams, Other Holdings

DETROIT (AP) — Mike and Marian Ilitch say one of their sons will eventually take the helm of sports, business and entertainment holdings that include the Detroit Tigers and Red Wings, Little Caesars pizza and MotorCity Casino Hotel.

Ilitch Holdings Inc. announced a succession plan Thursday.

Mike Ilitch will continue to run the Tigers and Red Wings and Marian Ilitch will continue to run MotorCity Casino Hotel. Mike Ilitch says in a statement that "all of our businesses, including the sports teams, will remain 100 percent Ilitch-family owned."

Christopher Ilitch, president and CEO of Ilitch Holdings, will continue providing leadership and eventually take over his parents' roles.

Mike and Marian Ilitch are in their 80s. They confounded Little Caesars and bought the Red Wings in 1982. Mike Ilitch bought the Tigers in 1992.
