Suburban Teens Found Safe After Going Missing While Walking To Southwest Detroit Park

MELVINDALE (WWJ) - Police have safely located two teenage girls who disappeared while walking to a park in southwest Detroit.

Police say Haley Benton and Melina Al-Said were last seen Friday evening walking from DeLuca Field in Melvindale, on Allen Road just south of Greenfield Road, to Patton Park in Detroit, along Dix Avenue and Vernor Highway.

Benton is described as 5'4" tall and 155 lbs. with brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a dark blue tank top, black jogging pants and white Nike shoes. Her age was not provided

Al-Said (who also goes by Melina Kennedy) is 13-years-old, 5'3" tall and 115 lbs. with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt and acid wash blue jeans, and carrying a black draw string backpack.
