Students Uninjured After School Bus Collides With 2 Cars

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say no students were injured when the school bus they were riding was involved in a crash with two other vehicles on the city's east side.

The accident happened Thursday morning on Houston-Whittier Street between Kelly Road and Hayes Street.

Authorities say seven kids were on the Detroit Public Schools bus. Emergency crews responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call and checked on the children, none of whom were injured.

According to reports, one of the drivers involved was briefly trapped inside their vehicle. That person was reportedly taken to a local hospital for observation, although police on the scene said no injuries were reported.

It wasn't immediately clear what school the students were en route to.

Houston-Whittier Street was closed to traffic as police investigated the scene, but has since reopened.
