Students Held After Guns Found At Wayne County High School

GARDEN CITY (WWJ/AP) - Two students could be facing charges after a pair of guns were found at a Wayne County school.

The students were taken into custody Tuesday following a lockdown at Cambridge High School in Garden City.

Superintendent Derek Fisher said in a statement that it doesn't appear that there was a plan to harm other students or staff members. He noted, however, that "any dangerous weapon, especially a firearm is cause for alarm."

WDIV-TV reports a school administrator had become suspicious of the students' behavior, prompting a search at the school. One gun was found in the school and the other was found outside of the building but on school grounds.

At this time, it's not clear what charges the students could be facing. An investigation is ongoing.
