Street Team visits Mt. Clemens Ice Carving Festival

The whirring of buzz saws and the tinkling of mallets filled the streets of Mt. Clemens for the 10th annual Mt. Clemens Ice Carving Festival.

"We started this tradition when the Super Bowl was in Detroit," said Event Coordinator Michelle Weiss. "It's been a crowd pleaser ever since."

"[My wife and I] have been coming here for about 4 years," said Bob Gross. "We really enjoy it."

"It makes me feel wonderful," said Dave Schneider, the owner of ABC Magic in downtown Mt. Clemens. "Mt. Clemens is a wonderful town and it brings people down to look around and go 'Wow, look at all the fun stuff to do!'"

Some of the fun the festival featured included ice shows, magicians and even an appearance from 'Frozen' characters like Elsa and Olaf.

"Nothing's better than watching a kid's face light up when they meet their favorite fairy tale character," said Schneider. "Whether it's Frosty the Snowman or a princess. To them it's real."

The Ice Carving Show is an annual event, and the Street Team looks forward to returning next year.
