Street Beat: Water Resources And Preservation

This week on Street Beat, host Lisa Germani discusses the issues that surround the Great Lakes and Michigan's waterways.  First, Lisa gets an overview of the situation from Lisa Marconi-Polk of the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative and Mark Coscarelli from the Great Lakes Fishery Trust.

Then, Lisa talks with Lisa Marconi-Polk from the Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative. They talk about teaching kids stewardship of the lakes, and how the Great Lakes are a significant part of Michigan's economy.

Next, Lisa is re-joined by Mark Coscarelli from the Great Lakes Fishery Trust.

They talk about the state of the Great Lakes, in general, and what non-native species are threatening the lakes.  Finally, Jeremy Geist from the Clinton River Watershed Council joins the show.

Jeremy tells Lisa about what the Clinton River Watershed is, what the threats to the system are, how the watershed council works to preserve the Clinton River, and how interested viewers can get involved.
