Street Beat: Charity, Networking Startups

This week on Street Beat host, Amyre Makupson, talks to people who saw a need in the community and started, or joined, charitable organizations to fill it. First up, Amyre sits down with Lorraine Weber of For The Seventh Generation to talk about what items are the most critical needs for foster children and families in need. Beds, household items and clothing always top that list.

Then, Amyre talks to Shaun Nethercott of the Matrix Theatre Company about getting young people (and adults) on stage, or involved in writing and producing plays, and the personal growth and lifetime skills that come from that experience.

Next on the show, is Karissa Holmes from Young Professionals Detroit. Kris tells Amyre about the activities that young professionals in Metro Detroit are joining up for; events that involve networking with each other, networking with Detroit's business leaders, and working to improve our community.

And finally, Armond Harris of Networking Out joins the show to tell Amyre about the group he co-founded so that busy professionals could stay healthy and fit by combining their workouts with the opportunity to network with the up-and-comers and movers-and-shakers of Metro Detroit. It's a way to increase your network, meet new friends, and have a great time and get a great workout simultaneously.
