Street Beat: Mentoring, Batting For Kids

This week on Street Beat, host Jill Washburn looks at organizations encouraging our youth.

First, Charles Small from Don Bosco Hall explains what that organization does to help Detroit youth and talks about the upcoming Batting for Kids event on July 11, 2014.

Then Ed Deeb, the founder of Metro Detroit Youth Day, talks about this event which has been a great way to channel children's energies in a positive and constructive setting for over 30 years.

Next, two graduates of the Midnight Golf program, Sharde Fleming and Domeda Duncan, explains how this mentoring program helped them and other Detroit youth grow into successful adults.

Finally, Dr. Michell Meyers, Program Development Director for B.I.N.G.O. (Boys Inspired through Nurturing, Growth and Opportunities) talks about the goals of this mentoring program created by former Detroit Mayor Dave Bing.
